Ozzy Osbourne to perform at Hyundai Card festival

Hyundai Card announces second-string lineup that also includes Hoobastank, Locofrank, Cocobat and Yellow Monsters

Heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne will be making his way to Seoul this summer as a headliner for the Hyundai Card Citybreak music festival.

Hyundai Card announced the upcoming festival’s second-string lineup Thursday, including Ozzy Osbourne, Hoobastank, Locofrank, Cocobat and Yellow Monsters.

Ozzy Osbourne was the lead vocalist of veteran heavy metal band Black Sabbath. In the last 40 years, Osbourne has released 11 solo albums and 9 albums as part of Black Sabbath, producing a number of hit singles including “Crazy Train,” “Goodbye to Romance,” “Mr. Crowley” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”

The heavy metal legend has sold over 100 million copies of his albums as both a solo artist and band member, earning a spot in the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.

Last year, Black Sabbath swept international music charts with its 19th studio album “13,” the band’s first new release in 35 years, proving its undying popularity.

Alongside Osbourne, popular alternative rock band Hoobastank will be performing at this year’s festival as well. The California-based four-piece band rose to fame with its Billboard-topping single “The Reason” in 2003. Hoobastank has sold over 10 million albums worldwide since its debut.

Other bands in the second-string roster are Japanese signature rock band Locofrank, groove metal band Cocobat and local punk rock band Yellow Monsters.

Last week, Hyundai Card announced that American pop rock band Maroon5, K-pop star Psy, Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, U.S. indie-rock band The Neighbourhood and local acts Nell and Lee Juck will be joining the festival.

The first edition of the Hyundai Card Citybreak rock festival took place in 2013 and was attended by over 75,000 rock fans. It featured an impressive lineup that included headliners Muse and Metallica, Iggy and The Stooges, Limp Bizkit, Ash, The Used and White Lies.

This year’s Citybreak will be held on Aug. 9 and 10 at Seoul World Cup Stadium. Two-day passes will be sold for 230,000 won until May 31 through Interpark. Regular ticket sales will open at 12 p.m. on June 3 and tickets will be priced at 255,000 won. Those who pay with a Hyundai card will receive a 20 percent discount.
