Psy’s agency said Wednesday that the South Korean singer now has 14 million followers on Chinese social networking service Weibo, the most among non-Chinese celebrities.
“The number of people following Psy’s Weibo account reached 14 million as of today,” YG Entertainment said. Weibo is a leading service in China, equivalent to Twitter in the United States.
Psy set up his account in November and became the most popular Korean star on the mobile platform in terms of followers on Feb. 6. His follower base surpassed 10 million on Feb. 26.
The singer, who burst on to the mainstream music scene last year with smash hit “Gangnam Style,” will be releasing his new single “Gentleman” on April 12 at his concert in Seoul. Big Bang′s G-Dragon and singer Lee Hi will join him as guest performers.
