LG Electronics said Friday it received two different awards for technology standardization and marketing skills.

As part of the World Standards Day 2011, the company was granted the presidential award from the Korean Standards Association for contributing to technology standardization, according to LG officials.

The goal of World Standards Day is to raise awareness on the importance of global standardization and promote its role in many sectors, including business and industry.

LG has a professional specializing in standardization in its 50 overseas offices.

The global electronics firm also got the 2011 POPAI brand chief award for retail marketing excellence from the U.S.-based Point of Purchase Advertising International on the same day.

It was recognized for its display skills in stores since the launch of the company’s in-store marketing team in the U.S. last year.

LG Electronics enabled its consumers to get information on products by making smartphones compatible with Quick Response (QR) codes on the items.
