Korea’s two largest electronics firms Samsung Electronics Co. and LG Electronics Inc. are under investigations by the Fair Trade Commission for allegedly fixing prices of TVs and laptops, Yonhap News Agency reported Thursday.
The watchdog is said to have started reviewing sales documents and related information acquired from their headquarters on Thursday to see whether they have fixed prices for liquid crystal display TVs and laptop computers.
“There have been rumors that the FTC will conduct an investigation into the alleged price fixing by two companies,” a source was quoted as saying in the report.
The FTC levied fines on Samsung and LG in October last year for manipulating prices of air conditioners and TVs sold to local schools and education offices, the report said.
