[Today’s K-pop] (G)I-dle logs 300m views with ‘Tomboy,’ ‘Queencard’ videos

(G)I-dle garnered 300 million views each with the music videos for “Tomboy” and “Queencard,” according to agency Cube Entertainment on Wednesday.

The music video for “Tomboy” reached the milestone on Feb. 7, becoming the group’s first to achieve the feat. Queencard” followed four days later.

“Tomboy” is the main track from the group's first studio album “I Never Die” from 2022 and “Queencard” fronted its sixth EP “I Feel” from last year. The LP topped iTunes top albums chart in 24 regions and the mini album ranked No. 41 on Billboard 200.

The “Tomboy” music video generated 10 million views on YouTube in 16 hours following release while the single logged 100 million streams on Spotify. Visuals for “Queencard” racked up 100 million hits in about 18 days.

(G)I-dle released its second full album “2” last month and sold over 1.3 million copies.

Kep1er to put out 1st Japan LP in May

Kep1er will roll out the group's first full-length album in Japan on May 8, announced agency WakeOne/Swing Entertainment on Wednesday.

LP “Kep1going” will consist of 15 songs including the main track “Straight Line” as well as five new songs in Japanese. The special edition of the album will have three more tracks.

The nine-member act has released three singles in the country so far: first single “Fly-Up” in 2022, second and third singles “Fly-By” and “Fly-High” in 2023. All three albums were certified gold by the Recording Industry of Japan for 100,000 shipments.

The group toured three cities in Japan last year and visited Tokyo for its first fan meetup in the country in October. It will hold its first fan concert there -- in Chiba later this month and in Kobe in the first week of March.

Seventeen marks fan club’s 8th anniversary with special remix

Seventeen is dropping a remix of “Super” on Friday to celebrate the eighth “birthday” of its official fandom community Carat, said agency Pledis Entertainment on Wednesday.

The band has been marking the day it unveiled the name Carat, Feb. 14, with a series of events. In addition to releasing the “workout” version of the mega hit, it will light up Namsan Seoul Tower with the signature rose quartz color on the day along with a happy birthday message.

“Super” is the lead single from Seventeen's 11th EP “FML” from last year which topped iTunes top songs chart in 36 regions. The album became the most-sold album in K-pop history at 6.29 million units and also is the first-ever album to sell over 3 million on the day of release.

Meanwhile, the 13 members will go live in Incheon in March before visiting Osaka and Kanagawa, Japan in May for an encore tour.

NCT’s Taeyong floats teaser for 2nd solo EP

Taeyong of NCT began promoting his upcoming solo album, starting with a timeline poster uploaded Wednesday.

His second EP “Tap,” due out on Feb. 26, will be made up of six songs including the titular track. The idol not only wrote lyrics for all tracks but also participated in writing melodies for them.

He was the first member of NCT to have a solo album when he released “Shalala” in June last year, seven years after his debut. The first album topped the iTunes top albums chart in 30 regions as did the title track on its top songs chart at No.14. Later this month, Taeyong is hosting his first solo standalone concert in Seoul for which tickets sold out upon release.

Meanwhile, he returned from Osaka Monday after a concert that was part of NCT 127’s third international tour.
