The Foreign Ministry on Monday appointed new chiefs of seven embassies and three consulates including in Myanmar, Norway, Fiji and Dubai.
Lee Baek-soon, former director general for North American affairs and human resources, was tapped as ambassador to Myanmar.
The embassy in Oslo will be headed by Lee Byung-hwa, former ambassador to Kazakhstan and for international relations in Gyeonggi Province, while Kim Seong-in, former director general for multilateral trade and economic affairs, will be stationed in Fiji.
Choi Jong-il, former commander of the 1st Army Corps and director of the Korea Defense Intelligence Agency, was tapped to lead the mission in Lebanon.
Other new ambassadors include Hahn Myung-jae, former deputy consul general in New York and director general for international relations at the organizing committee for the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic Winter Games (Paraguay); Kim Rai-Hyug, embassy counselor in Spain (Honduras); and Kim Seong-choon, minister counselor in India (Papua New Guinea).
The new consuls general are Hong Young-jong, former consul general in Dubai (Sao Paulo); Park Whan-seon, deputy consul general in Sendai (Nagoya); and Ahn Seong-doo, former ambassador to Afghanistan (Dubai).
