Anti-abuse poster only visible to children is installed

Spanish anti-abuse foundation ANAR (Ayuda a Niños y Adolescentes en Riesgo) installed an outdoor billboard last month that only children can see.

The board has a sad face of a boy with a general anti-child abuse message. Using a lenticular imaging method, the ad creator set up a system in which adults and children look at the same poster and see different images and messages.

While adults would only read a general poster warning about child abuse, children can see the changed picture with the boy’s wounded face and a message that says, “If somebody hurts you, phone us and we will help you” in Spanish, along with the foundation’s contact number.

The latter message is not visible to adults with an average height of more than 170 centimeters, since the lenticular lens only allows it to be visible from children of an average height, allowing child abuse victims to seek help without alerting their abuser.
