Pizza festival at JW Marriott Hotel Seoul


Olivo, JW Marriott Hotel Seoul’s Italian restaurant, is presenting a summer pizza festival until July 31. 

The menu will feature 12 pizzas, including the fiorentina, topped with spinach and egg; the capesanta, with sliced fried scallop, basil and mozzarella cheese; the tonno, with tuna slow-cooked in herb marinade, spicy horseradish, red onions and capers; the insalata, with endive, fennel, mango, cherry tomatoes and feta cheese; the aragosta, with lobster and oven-dried tomatoes; and the chocolate, with vanilla ice cream and bananas. Prices range from 29,000 won ($27) to 45,000 won.

Olivo is a casual trattoria-style restaurant, specializing in authentic Italian pizza made in a wood-fire oven, and also offers regional pasta specialties, homemade Italian dishes and desserts prepared in the spacious open kitchen.

Nutritious Samgyetang at Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel

Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel is presenting a summer promotion for Samgyetang, a hearty, traditional Korean chicken soup that is frequently eaten during the hot seasons to restore energy. Samgyetang, one of the most well-known, stamina-inducing Korean dishes, is made with a fresh spring chicken stuffed with sticky rice, garlic, wild mountain ginseng, jujube, chestnut and more. 

A number of additional fortifying and appetite-boosting ingredients such as soft abalone, octopus, eel and prawn can be added. Spicy Samgyetang is also available, along with a bottle of Wild Ginseng Soju offered at a special price of 10,000 won ($9). 

Diners can enjoy the menu from noon to 9:30 p.m. every day at Feast, the hotel’s signature restaurant located on the 41st floor. Price is 28,000 won per dish. For inquiries, call (02) 2211-1710. 


Summer course menus at Sheraton Grande Walkerhill

Sheraton Grande Walkerhill’s Korean and Chinese restaurants are presenting a series of healthy menus for the summer. 

Until Aug. 31, Korean restaurant Ondal is offering a special Samgyetang promotion. The royal Samgyetang course menu, priced at 64,000 won ($57), includes a thick, rich broth and stewed chicken stuffed with a handful of medicinal mountain herbs and wild ginseng. The Haesintang course menu, priced at 96,000 won, is made with a young chicken, abalone, octopus, ginseng, pine nut and sesame. Cold buckwheat noodles can also be enjoyed for 55,000 won.

Chinese restaurant Geumryong is presenting the “Feast of Colors” promotion until Aug. 31. The lunch course menu, priced at 89,000 won, includes golden mushroom with sesame sauce, which represents the color yellow; stir-fried seafood, which represents black; Huinan-style steamed grouper for red; chlorella “long-life” noodle for green; and blueberry dessert for purple.

Summer bargains at Lotte Hotel Busan

Lotte Hotel Busan is offering a series of bargain summer promotions from July 1-Aug. 31. 

The “Summer” package, which is limited to 10 rooms per day, allows visitors to stay in the deluxe room for the affordable price of 160,000 won ($141) a night. The “Cool” package, priced at 180,000 won, includes one night in the deluxe room plus an ice tumbler and one glass of ice coffee. 

The “Cool Beach” package, priced at 220,000 won, includes one night in a deluxe room, breakfast buffet for two and two tropical cocktails.

Spicy Sichuan cuisine at Conrad Seoul

Conrad Seoul’s buffet restaurant Zest is presenting the “Sichuan Cuisine Festival,” featuring acclaimed native chefs from the Hilton Hotel Chongqing. The chefs will be showcasing the authentic flavors of Sichuan cuisine for 10 days, from July 10-19. 

The Sichuan region is located in inland China and known for its spicy cuisine that incorporates a diverse array of spices including garlic, green onion and chili. Sichuan locals view spicy foods as a way of invigorating the appetite and overcoming the region’s hot, humid valley weather. 

Zest is located on the second floor of Conrad Seoul. The Sichuan buffet is priced at 70,000 won ($62) and 80,000 won for weekday lunch and dinner and 85,000 won and 90,000 won for weekend lunch and dinner, respectively.
