이란 과학자 “타임머신 발명!”

이란의 한 과학자가 미래를 볼 수 있는 “타임머신”을 발명했다고 밝혀 화제가 되고 있다.

영국의 텔레그래프가 10일 (현지시간) 보도한 바에 따르면 이란의 전략적 발명품 센터 (Centre for Strategic Inventions) 소속의 알리 라제기 (27)는 최근 자신이 5~8년 뒤의 미래를 볼 수 있는 장치를 개발했다고 주장했다.

그의 주장에 따르면 이 장치는 “복잡한 알고리즘”에 따라 99%의 정확도로 대상이 된 개인의 미래에 일어날 일들을 상세히 예측할 수 있다고 한다.

그는 이 장치를 이용하면 이란 정부가 군사적 충돌, 미래의 경제상황, 원유 가격 변화 등을 미리 알아볼 수 있을 것이라고 말했다. 또한 그는 앞으로 이 장치를 대량생산해 국가와 개인을 대상으로 판매할 예정이라고 밝혔다.

라제기는 기계의 프로토타입 (prototype: 원형)을 공개하지 않을 것이라고 말하면서, 만약 프로토타입을 공개하면 중국인들이 장치의 아이디어를 훔쳐가 하루 만에 동일한 장치 수백 개를 만들 수 있기 때문이라고 설명했다.

현재 179개의 발명품을 만들어낸 것으로 알려진 라제기는 이번 발명으로 인해 친구들과 가족들이 자신이 “신 흉내를 내고 있다고 (play God)” 비난했지만 자신이 만들어낸 장치가 종교적 신념과 위배되지 않는다고 강조했다.

라제기가 만들었다는 “아랴옉 타임 트래블링 머신 (The Aryayek Time Traveling Machine)”이 실제로 그의 설명대로 작동하는지 확인한 전문가는 아직 없는 것으로 알려졌다.

A 27-year-old Iranian scientist claimed to have invented a “time machine” device that can predict the future, local media reported Thursday.

Ali Razeghi, a managing director of Iran’s Center for Strategic Inventions, said the device runs by a complex set of algorithms to “predict details of the next five to eight years of the life of its users.” He claimed that the machine’s accuracy is 98 percent.

He said the Iranian government will be able to predict future events such as military conflicts and economic turnouts. The Tehran scientist said he expects to market the device among states and individuals.

Razeghi -- who has 179 inventions listed under his name -- said his latest invention was criticized by his friends and family who accused him of “trying to play God.” He was adamant in defending his machine, claiming that it is not against his religious values.

Razeghi said the machines’ prototypes will not be launched because “Chinese will steal the idea and produce it in millions overnight.”

No authorities have yet verified whether the machine works in accordance to Razeghi’s claims.
