미국 사우스다코타 지역의 한 농장에서는 유전자가 조작된 소 50마리가 있다고 전해진다.
온라인 매체 기즈모도에 따르면 과학자들은 인간의 유전자가 삽입된 이 소들은 에볼라와 같은 치명적인 질병을 예방하는 주사를 맞힌 후 신약을 개발할 예정이다.
이들은 매우 높은 수준의 인간 항체를 가진 것으로 전해진다.
