매년 설과 추석 명절이 지나면 가사일 분담 등 부부갈등이 심화돼 이혼건수가 껑충 뛰어오르는 것으로 나타났다. 11일 통계청의 최근 5년간 이혼통계를 보면 설과 추석을 지낸 직후인 2∼3월과 10∼11월의 이혼건수는 바로 직전 달보다 평균 11.5% 가량 많았다. 지난해의 경우 설이 있었던 1월 이혼건수는 9천13건이었으나 2월과 3월에는 각각 9천398건과 9천511건으로 300∼500건 늘었다. 명절 여파가 잠잠해진 4월에는 다시 8천524건으로 줄어들었다. 추석이 있던 9월 이혼건수는 9천137건이었으나 직후인 10월에는 9천972건, 11월 에는 9천915건으로 800건 가량 껑충 뛰었다. 최근 5년간 명절 뒤 이혼건수가 가장 크게 증가한 때는 2008년 추석이다. 9월에 는 6천704건에 불과했던 이혼건수가 추석 뒤인 10월 9천603건으로 43.2% 급증했다. 명절 여파에 더해 당시 글로벌 금융위기로 인한 경제상황이 악화된 것도 이혼 급증 요인으로 작용한 것으로 보인다.
